My Fashion Epiphany

I couldn’t come up with a better title for this post…so there you go. There aren’t a lot of nice words that begin with M that are happy and joyful. Yes, I know its Monday, but there are still reasons to smile. For instance, Friday is only 5 days away…lol. But, with the snow melting, it is quite muddy outside so…lol.

I got this skirt a while back (like, October) while I was thrifting with my mom. It was one of those, there isn’t a darn thing in this particular thrift store, but oh, what’s this…score! I paired it with another recent (as in November) purchase of mine, this see through black button down shirt. It runs big and its a small. I wish they had an XS, but I doubt that would’ve made a difference. Oh well, story of my life..lol. But, I still love it, and I especially love JCPenny outlet store for selling it to me for $5! I might have my mom take it in on the sides so I can pair it with some skinny jeans. Enjoy!

In case you haven’t heard, Washington D.C. and a lot of other big eastern states got hit hard on Wednesday and we are still reeling from it. It wasn’t that much snow as far as inches, but when it came, it came hard and fast and RIGHT smack in the middle of afternoon rush hour and took people anywhere from 1-12 hours to get home…CRAZINESS!! I think snow is pretty, as long as I don’t have to drive in it. We are all dug out now and all is well. For now..I hear we are supposed to get one this upcoming Wednesday…great…..

Anyways, today I grabbed lunch with my friend Jazzy and her adorable son. She’s pretty dope and I hadn’t seen her since last year (early December) so it was good to see her and to catch up! After that, the hubs and I met up and ran a couple of errands, including taking these pics. I wanted to take advantage of the pretty snow, so we found a nice spot to take this pictures.

So, I LOVE Gap, but I find that ALL of their shirts run big. Their jeans, pants and skits are fine, but its something about their shirts that run extra big. The hubs got this shirt for me for Christmas and I LOVE it, but its an XS but I find it fits like a medium/large. I decided to modify it and tie it up a little bit and put a black cardigan over it. I’ve been trying to expand my different color dresses. Although a black dress is always classic, its nice to wear a different color every now and again. This dress is another awesome Ross find that I found a couple of weeks ago…I decided to pair it with some knee high boots. Yes, it was cold and windy, but I still braved it for the blog. I didn’t realize how brown my hair is in the sun…lol. Sorry for the non-creative post name..lol..its been a long day. Enjoy!

So, a little black dress is essential in any women’s wardrobe. It comes in various styles; strapless, long sleeve, short sleeve, one sleeve, v-neck, scoop neck….the list can go on. While at Ross a couple of weeks ago with my mom, I drifted over to the dress section. I hardly ever get lucky there in the dress section; all the smaller sizes are either all gone or everything is really old lady looking…lol. But, just when I was about to walk away, I found this little cute number on sale for $8!! SCORE!! And, it was long sleeve, which is something I didn’t have in my closet and the length was just perfect for me. I put this little number on last night and went to a surprise birthday party my bestie was throwing for her sister. Oh, I trimmed my hair earlier that day…..can you tell?? lol..

Does anyone have that one shirt that you can ALWAYS go to and it looks good with any and everything, no matter what? Currently (since like, October) mine is my long sleeve black lace shirt from Forever 21. I think its so classic and lace is something that will never go out of style and can be paired with a pencil skirt or a pair of grey slacks (see below). Thursday work wear.  Enjoy!
